“Quick Look” of “Snelle Weergave” is een functie geïntroduceerd in Mac OS X 10.5 en verder ‘verfijnt’ in Mac OS X 10.6. Het laat je toe om onmiddellijk de inhoud van je documenten te bekijken zonder ze te openen. Je bladert door PDF’s, bekijkt foto’s en video’s op groot formaat en je kunt diavoorstellingen afspelen. Allemaal met één klik met je muis of 1 druk op je toetsenbord (spatiebalk). In Mac OS 10.6 – Snow Leopard werkt Quick Look nu ook in de “Open- en bewaar-dialoogvensters” én kan je via “alt-spatiebalk” onmiddellijk naar een ‘full screen’-weergave gaan.

Apple’s Mac OS X Snow Leopard (10.6) gaat vooral over verdere ‘afwerking’ en ‘optimalisatie’ van Mac OS X Leopard (10.5).
Op de volgende websites kan je lezen over deze minder bekende, maar toch zéér welkome, ‘kleine’ verbeteringen:

VMWare-gebruikers mogen upgraden naar Mac OS X 10.5.8. De vorige upgrade naar 10.5.7 gaf soms problemen met VMWare en deze zijn nu opgelost!
“Apple just released the Mac OS X 10.5.8 Update and we want to let all our customers know that VMware Fusion 2 works great with Mac OS X 10.5.8, including 3D graphics on ATI systems.”

PS: VMWare is een virtualisatie-software om met Windows (en Windows-programma’s) onder Mac OS X te werken. Parallels is een gelijkaardig product. Werken beiden zéér goed!

Lets say youre looking for a photo to upload to Flickr or similar service. With your browser open, select Open from the File menu to invoke the Open Dialog Box. On the left hand side, select Media. Now you can browse your iPhoto library and even scrub through Events if you have iLife 09 installed. From there, select the photo you want, click Open and youve got it.

Sleutelwoorden in de client-update zijn onder andere snelheid, stabiliteit, verdere afwerking van het gehele operating systeem én voor de zakenwereld een meer geïntegreerde ondersteuning voor Microsoft Exchange.

AppleJack - A utility for use in single user mode. Dit is een tip voor de geavanceerde gebruiker of IT-persoon die al eens een ‘redelijk’ gecrashte Apple computer terug aan de praat moet krijgen.
