It seems Windows users are not only at risk from software viruses, but also from antivirus software. Over the weekend antivirus software giant AVG pushed a virus definitions database update to its users that mistakenly identified the library for the Windows version of iTunes as a Trojan and placed its contents in quarantine… (read on for a solution!)

Een vraag die al bestaat sinds er virussen bestaan. Hebben Apple computers anti-virus software nodig? Sinds we werken met Mac OS X (24 maart 2001) hebben we geen échte virussen meer gezien op onze Apple computers. Intussen zijn er ook andere bedreigingen dan virussen, zo zijn er malware, trojan horses, spyware, worms, rootkits, adware, … We weten dat de meeste hiervan niet schadelijk of niet gevaarlijk zijn op het Mac OS X-platform en het dagdagelijkse ‘kwaad’ veroorzaakt op het Windows-platform. Toch dienen we alert te zijn én te blijven.
